Single Review: Nyxe—“Without You” 4 April 2016

Nyxe’s most recent single “Without You” is a sunburst of crescendos that radiates the foundation for her EP entitled “Phases,” to be released later this spring. While the previous single “Beneath the Waves” established her innate sense of melancholy, “Without You” is psychedelic dreamtime music to uplift, in spite of yearning lyrics. It’s catchy and expansive, yet the melody drives soothingly. Such contrast is calligraphic and satisfying. A clear distillation of singer-songwriter truth in a world of gloomy Lorde and Banks imitators. I can’t wait to hear more.

Nyxe - Biography

Nyxe is a space witch singing lullabies from sunken pirate ships. She is the latest incarnation of musician Pam Shaffer, a dark electronic muse with an ethereal feel. Her songs feature deep melodic drums, crystalline vocals, swooning synthesizers and mystical lyricism that give each piece an otherworldly quality. With sonic textures that are haunting yet calming, Nyxe’s music will appeal to fans of Grimes, Bjork, Portishead and FKA Twigs. Her song “Beneath The Waves” is out on 26 February 2016  and is the first single from her forthcoming EP Phases.
